Canyoning Safety: What a Well-Run Tour Looks Like

Equipment checks, briefings, group size and weather calls — the details that separate a safe operator from a risky one.

Guide checking safety equipment before a canyoning descent

Every descent starts with a briefing: commands, body position, how to move in moving water and what happens at each rappel.

Ask any operator three questions: who checks the equipment, how many participants per guide, and who decides to cancel when the weather turns. Clear answers are a good sign.

We keep groups small so a guide can watch every participant on every drop, and we adjust or cancel routes when water levels make them unsafe.

Safety is not only gear. It is preparation, honest information about the route's difficulty and the willingness to change plans.
